Paper Issues

Hey friends! Over on the Paper Issues blog we are linking up 'Learning Curve' projects! Fun, yes??? Why don't you link up something you've made that could fit this theme?! Learning Curve covers are variety of possible themes: school related, new driver, maybe you're learning a new hobby?

Today I am linking up an older layout. This is one of my favorites because it is clean and simple. I remember making this page on John's first day of 1st grade at a new school. I was so worried and scared for him! I shouldn't have, though. He did amazing well, and his teacher is still one of our favorites!

It's Give Away Day!!

Hey friends! Where did this past week go??? Things have been non.stop since we got home from our motorcycle trip to Sturgis, SD.

How was my trip (thanks for asking! LOL)? It was fun. And long. Really long. But once we were there, we have a blast! Lots of riding. Lots of drinking. Lots of photos taken. Overall, it was a pretty cool trip! I will be posting photos and what not tomorrow....but today, I have a giveaway!

When I got home, I had some awesomely amazing news in my email. A couple of months back, I had been asked to participate in the Sassy Lil Sketches E-Book . Have you heard about it??? Well, here is some info about it:

The Sassy Lil' Sketches Ebook features about 70 brand new sketches designed by Cherie Averill!

You'll find sketches for layouts with one, two, three & multiple photos! You'll even find double page sketches! Plus, sample layouts from talented designers that will spark your creativity!

Most of the sketches use standard photo sizes (4x6, 5x7, 8x10). To get extra mileage out of the sketches, switch it up! Use the sketches to create cards, double pagers, etc.! If you need ideas for "switching it up", check out the cards in the Sample Layouts section or stop by the Sassy Lil' Sketch blog on Saturdays.

The Sassy Lil' Sketches Ebook is available for online viewing or you can easily download and print it. It's your choice!

Visit www.sassylilsketches.com to get the Sassy Lil' Sketches Ebook & get scrapping!

This is my layout from the book. I truly loved working with this sketch! Normally I will only do a single 12 x 12 page, so working with this sketch encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone!

Now for the giveaway! I have one copy of the new Sassy Lil Sketches Ebook to give to one of my readers! To be entered into the drawing, all you have to do is comment on what your favorite new scrapbook product from CHA is. Want you name added to the drawing three more times? Join my blog reader list, through Google Connect (over on my sidebar, at the bottom). I will enter your name three more times when you have added me!

On Tuesday, August 23 I will draw a name ! Be sure to leave a way for me to contact you!

Five on Friday

Seeing I have been away from home for the past week, I thought I would link up some of the items in my shopping cart at Two Peas In A Bucket  that I am really, really wanting right now.

1. This little tag makes me so incredibly happy.

2. Halloween has never been a holiday that I scrap a ton of. Lets face it... my boys don't usually dress up for Halloween in colors that compliment scrapbook paper! But this collection?? This collection had me at hello.
 Mischievous Paper & Accessories Kit

3. Have you seen this? Its mistable ruffles, by Pink Paislee. Now, I am*sure* that I could mist some basic fabric and get the same results, but why would I when I can just get this? Yes, that is what I shall do!
Mistables Fabric Pleat Strips

4. Now, this next item is only at Two Peas in 6x6 size. But when they get it in 12x12, I will be all over this!

All Spice 6X6 Paper Pad

5. For my last favorite thing, I am adding an older product. It's older but its a goodie! I have used this mist so, so much here lately. You should get some too. But only after I get mine!

Well, thats all for today! Hope you enjoyed my Five on Friday!

Make It Mine Monday

While cruising the world wide web the other day, I stumbled across a layout over on the Studio Calico blog. It was the layout of the week, and there is no doubt as to why! This layout was made by AllieH on the SC message board.

Lotw

I really like this layout. The colors. The fonts. The simplicity of it all. So, I took it upon myself to make this layout my own!

Really, my layout is pale in comparison to the orginal. And thats ok. Allie totally rocked her layout and I enjoyed getting a quick page done. Win-Win for everyone, yes? I callenge you to find a layout you love, and whip it up! You don't have to reinvent the wheel for every page you make! The point is to record your memories!

Hope your Monday is going great!

A mini, of course!

Hey friends! Hope your weekend is off to a great start! Mine is! Right now, as you read this blog post, my husband and I are on our Harley on the way to Sturgis, SD.

(Sturgis during the day)

(Sturgis at night)

And that makes me incredibly happy!

This is my incredibly adorable husband, and our bike. Her name is Betsy - because every harley needs a cute name!
This is my incredible amazing friends, Kelly & Brenda. We ride a ton with them, and truth be told, they are the reason we bought Betsy in the first place!

And this is Kelly's Pop, Dale. He absolutely cracks me up! He will wear a top hat the whole week we are gone. He is quite the ladies man!

We are going with Brenda, Kelly, Dale and then also, another couple (sorry, I have no pics to share of them...yet!). We are heading out early tomorrow morning, going all the way to Cheyenne, Wyoming. Never been there, so I am excited! Then on Sunday, we will go the rest of the way.

Now, for the reason you are here at my blog today!! LOL Sorry about all the non-scrappy stuff at the first. Just excited!

For the Paper Issues Blog this week, we are switching up our themes! Time for a new theme! The new theme is 'Make A Splash' - you can interupt this anyway you wish! As long as it is made from paper, you can link it up to the Paper Issues Blog for others to see!

For my first project, I want to share with you a quick and inexpensive mini-album, using a file folder!

The front cover.

The inside, page 1.

The inside, page 2.

The tutorial for this file folder mini album can be found here on Jana Eubanks blog. Really, this album is as simple as they come! You should try one!

I have to run, for now! I do have posts scheduled for while I am away this week. Be on the look out for a GREAT new sketch and layout from Sassy Lil Sketches on Tuesday! You will definately want to play with this sketch!

It's Reveal time!!

Today is Tuesday, and that means its Reveal Day over at Sassy Lil Sketches! Have you gone to see the new sketch? Well, I will save you a couple of clicks and show you!

I love this sketch! So versitile, so graphic! I have started a new layout with this sketch & cannot wait to show it to you!

Did you know you can use this sketch and play along to win some awesome scrapy goodness? Oh YES you can!! And you should definately play along!

Here are the 'short' version of the details: Layouts must be uploaded below by September 5th, 11:59 P.M. EST to be eligible for the August random prize drawing.

Specific rules for both Sassy Lil' Sketches site can be found on our Sassy Lil' Sketches "Rules" page.

The sponser for this sketch is Apron Strings. You should totally go check them out!!

On the homefront, today has been a crazy busy day. Met with a new client that is out of town - going to get to decorate her living room, kitchen, dining room and small powder bath. Fun stuff! Of course, the meeting was time consuming, but totally loved getting to own the homeowner!

Alex and I are also getting ready for Sturgis - we are taking our Harley Davidson motorcycle on a 14 hour teck to Sturgis, SD. We are leaving on Sat, and it will take two days to get there, be there for the week, then two days to get home. There is so much to pack, plan and think about. It's overwhelming at times! I know it will all work out, but for now, I am in a semi-panic attack.

I promised a layout yesterday, and I am not going to let you down! I made this layout as a letter to my oldest son, Ben. It is hard being a preteen, and I just felt like he needed (as well as I needed!) reassurance that we will get through the hard times.

For the clouds, I embossed them using my AC embossing powders and then cut them out with a cloud punch. Super quick & super cut. The sun is a chipboard piece from Maya Road that was painted then embossed. Love. Love. Love.  The papers are from a kit from Studio Calico.

I love this page. I think it is all to easy to just scrap the good things in life & kinda ignore the daily trials. Well, having a teenage boy is hard. But we are figuring it all out as well & I felt that needed to be documented.

Have a great day & thanks so much for stopping by! Tomorrow I have a layout to share that will be over on the Paper Issues Blog.

Monday, August 1, 2011

Hey y'all! Sorry it have been so long since my last post. It was totally not my  intention to get away from the computer for over a week. *gasp* A week since I have posted on my favorite forums. A week without facebook, really. A week without twitter. No, I wasn't traveling though I wish I had been). I was sick.

Like, I would rather die than live, sick. It started out as a simple gallbladder attack. Never had one? Count your lucky stars. It's right up there with natural child birth, without the joy of bringing a baby home. I literally could not hold my head up without throwing up & don't get me started on the pain. Ugggh.

Anyway, turns out, after the kind Doctor running some tests, it was not my gallbladder after all. No, I have the joy of have ulcers. Very painful ulcers. I am finally back to my old self...now I just have to take a pill to help. And boy, does it help. :)
Tomorow I have a layout to post here, so come back and see me! Have a great week, friends!
