Project Life Week 3

(Side A)

(insert A & B)

Wow. What a week for my Project Life book. I really didn't think I would have much, in the way of photos + material to add to this week.

I was soooo wrong.

I ended up doing my usual 2 page spread + also including a insert with more photos! For my insert, I just cut down a Project Life Page Protector and made it to be 6x12 inches. It worked out beautifully!  Here is what this weeks layout looks like, inserts and all!

(Overview with insert showing side A)

(Overview with insert showing side B)

Things I have included: hiking Palo Duro Canyon...online shopping for clothes...Joe Paterno's death...the weather....scootering....clementines...Merit Badge University....Annie...concealed handgun class...cupcakes...playing in the hot tub....so much more!

I really enjoyed playing around with an insert this week. I will not be doing this often though! It can get tough figuring out what to include, and still have it all cohesive! For my main supplies this week I used things I already had out on my desk + my County Fair Kit from Studio Calico.

Stop back by here on Friday - I am going to be answering some of the questions that you've posted in my comments and/or emailed me. I will also have links to tons of freebies that I have found for Project Life! I gotta share the goodies with my readers! ha ha!

Thanks for stopping by today! I am going to be linking this week's layout up to the Mom Creative Blog - she has a Project Life's post over there. Come join us!

What I love Wednesday

Last Friday night, Alex and I had date night. We always go out o dinner (so that is nothing new) but here lately, we are always with friends. Now, I love our friends. They are teaching us to relax and have fun. And how to drink Vegas Bombs. Have I mentioned that I love me a Vegas Bomb?? Yeah, I do! Anyway, back to my story....

BUT, I missed having dinner with just Alex. Its our time to reconnect. And laugh.

So, when Alex came in last Friday from work and told me to get ready cause we were going on a dinner date, I was happy! And to top it off, he took me to a favorite Japanese place (that's not his favorite). I love that he thought about what I like to eat!  Now, I have to add that the wait at this place is forever. And ever. From the time we walked in, till the time we left? 2.5 hours.

But, it was sooo worth it!

After dinner, we still had drinks (read: Vegas Bombs for me + cold beer for Alex) with friends + had a great time.

Awesome night + memories.

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday, y'all! Hope you had a fabulous  weekend! Alex & I did - the boys were at their dad's, so we had date night on Friday + a night cap with friends, then Saturday brought lunch out, and then dinner with friends that we don't get to see too often! I love this stage of my life.

Today though, I have week 2 of my Project Life Album to share. I have to confess - this week came together much smoother + quicker than last weeks did. I also feel like I am starting to see my 'scrapbook style' come through more this week as well. I am certain that, as we get further through the year, I will look back & laugh at how simple my first weeks were!

This week, I used a little more technique on my layout. I stamped, die-cut, and heat embossed. I have some hidden journaling (in the paper bag) as a letter to John about our time we share each day while waiting on his brother to get out of school. I have also copied an obituary of a friends daughter that passed away from Cancer. That's her photo up top. I've included family birthday's we celebrated (my sisters and niece) and restaurants we've eaten at. Oh, and I wrote about us starting Couch 2-5K in preparation of running my first 5K. I've snuck in a photo of Alex relaxing in his chair with the dogs, and a photo of Ben taken while we shared a lunch date instead of going straight back to school after he got his braces fixed. And that photo with the yellow clouds? If you look closely, you will see that it has a rainbow. We saw this rainbow just as the funeral was ending for our friend's 16 year old daughter. I had to include it.

Well, friends, that's it for today! I am going to be linking his week's layout to the Creative Mom's Project Life post on Tuesday! Come check it out!

Oh! And I have a new layout to share tomorrow. It's one of my favorites that I have made recently. It has scallops, tissue paper, and my favorite little angel. It's a keeper!

My Heart My Always

Hey friends! I am so glad its Friday - how about you!?! This week hasn't been bad, its just been long! The boys didn't have any school on Monday and lets just say all of our sleep schedules are messed.up.big.time. Glad its the weekend - and for once, I have nothing on the calendar!

Back to scrappy things!! I made another layout for the Paper Issues 'What's Love Got To Do About It' theme. This time around, I pulled out some of Pink Paislee's Paper Heart collection. Truth: I have had this collection for a long while now. But I didn't think the colors or patterns were anything that I just loved. I was soooo wrong. I love this entire collection & actually want another whole set of it!

The photo I used is one from right after Alex and I got married. *sigh*   I loved my wedding day! We were married in Santa Fe and it was absolutely perfect!

The journaling says: When we got married, I gave you my whole heart but I also gave you my always!

Thats all I have today! I have been creating another layout + I have been working on a special series coming up on my blog (just in time for Valentines Day!). Busy times, around here!

What I love Wednsday

...is how happy the boys are while playing together! This photo was taken Sunday afternoon - they had played outside all day and wanted to cool off in the hot tub (yes, it is an oxymoron!). They splashed, 'swam' underwater and I even caught John doing a handstand or two! The hot tub is on the patio,  right outside my scrapbook room door, so I could hear them laughing and goofing off. It was music to my ears!

Project Life: Week 1

Hey there! Well, its Monday and that means I get to share with you my first week in Project Life! I have to say - this past week took longer to document than I expected!

I learned a couple of things: take more photos than you think  you will need, cause trust me, you need more! I also learned to take better notes of what we did. Its hard to remember some of the small details that I want to document!

That being said, I really had fun with this past week. Its a hodge-podge of paper scraps & I kinda like that. I thought I would reply a bunch on the core kit that you can order for Project Life. Turns out, I doubt I use it at all!

I am actually excited to get into a groove for PL. This weeks page is ok, but I know my pages will get better with time. I am such a routine kind of gal & know that I will find a groove and start getting

Thanks for stopping by today! The boys are home for school today & that means I get to referee them! Actually John is going on a hike today and I need to convince him that shorts+sandals are not appropriate in the Texas Panhandle in January! Silly boy!

All You Need Is Love

Paper Issues has a new theme up today - ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE. I love that we are going to have a full month (now thru Valentines Day!) of love projects!

To start this theme out, I am re posting this layout I did a couple of years ago. Yeah, its older, but I love it anyway! The photo in the layout is of the historic hotel where Alex and I were married at. I love this page - its rustic & charming. And simple. Much like this layout of mine!

I have several new layouts planned to be linked throughout this coming month! Why don't you join in & link a few of your own as well?

What I love Wednesday

....is that it is Alex & I are relaxing (and slightly intoxicated!) on New Years Eve! Alex never  lets go and just lets life happen. With his job, he is on call 24 hours a day. And they call 24 hours a day. And he is always conscience of how others see him in public. No drinking. Very little dancing. Uptight.

But on New Years Eve? He turned his phone off, grabbed a drink (or two...or more...) and just hung out with our friends.

And it was perfect.

Project Life Cover

So, I have decided to join in the fun of Project Life. For those who don't know what PL is, you can read about it here. In a nutshell, you document your life - the day to day stuff - on a weekly basis & then it all goes in one album. For me, PL is going to be taking a snapshot of our week in general and documenting it. Some weeks will have more photos and details (as we are busier some weeks!) and others will show the basic routines of our lives.

I cannot wait!

I have enjoyed seeing others PL albums, but knew I wouldnt/couldn't commit to taking a photo every.single.day. For this to work for me, the key was allowing myself flexability to add more or put less into each week. As long as I am doing something - anything - then I will call this a sucess. I don't want to focus on the HUGE fact that this is a year long commitment. I am focusing on this week & documenting it. Next week, I will think about next week. I *know* I would be overwhelmed by looking at the large view of this, so I am thinking small + doable.

So how am I going to make this work? The nitty gritty is this: My PL 'week' will run Monday-Sunday. I will spend Monday printing my photos & doing the previous weeks journaling. I am going to be mainly using supplies I already have (specifically, Studio Calico kits) but I also bought a PL Cobalt Core Kit to suppliment my stash. Since I don't want my album to be all matchy, I am A-OK with mixing product. I figure by the time the end of 52 weeks comes, it will all flow together. I will be using style A photo page protectors. Right now, I only have one small package of them & they are out of stock on Amazon. Word is they will be back in stock at the beginning of Feb. Let's hope.

I spent about an hour yesterday, mixing + matching Studio Calico papers until I came up with my cover spread. I went neutral for this page, as I hope it will be a nice way to start my album. Calm. Uncluttered. I like this.
So there you have it. My cover spread & some short thoughts on Project Life. If you are interested in knowing more, check out Becky Higgins website. There is a ton of information out there, just be careful & not overwhelm yourself!

I am going to be linking this post up to the Paper Issues "We've Got Your Number" challenge! Stop by there and see all of love for numbers going on over there!

Here is a list of the supplies I've used so far for my album!
