Four Months

Olivia is growing like a little weed.

A cute, squishy, slobberly weed!

I stole this photo from her momma's facebook page late one night. (When the inspiration hits, you have to run with it!)

And I really am happy with how this page came out. For the title, I just sprayed Mister Huey Shine over bare naked chipboard. Easy peasy.

I used my Studio Calico Daydreamer Believer kit & think the color combinations are divine!

Oops!

I haven't forgotten about you, my friends! Things have been C-R-A-Z-Y around here. How so, you ask?

Wellllll, since you asked:

*My husband had a wreck & totaled his truck. So we are new truck shopping. Have you done that lately? No??!? Yeah, I don't recommend doing it if you love your spouse. What I want & what he wants? Not the same thing. And the cost!?! Holy cow.

*Last Friday our family remembered our daughter, Marcy. She went on to Heaven 7 years ago on 2/17.  The week of her anniversary always stinks. There's no way around it.

*We've kicked off our March of Dimes fundraising. This means meetings, and workshops and fundraisers.

* Alex and I are getting ready for a little trip to the most magical place on Earth. Yes, Walt Disney World. We leave Sat. am. We are also going to Siesta Key Beach. I am perhaps most happy about that. Alex has never been to a beach or seen the ocean and I cannot wait to share this with him!

Throw in all the regular 'life' stuff: doctor appointments, school, homework and boy scouts. Things have just been a little crazy. I have kept up with my Project Life Album + I have been making layouts. I will schedule some posts to appear while I am away and get all caught up! So be sure to stop back by!

Through The Years

I wanted to jump in and share this page I made the other day! Apparently my husband has been on my mind (our Anniversary is next month!) and he has become the object of most of my pages as of late. No worries, kiddos. I will come back to scrapbooking you soon! ;)

Have a great Friday! Be sure to link up all of your love themed projects to Paper Issues!

Project Life Q & A

Hey friends! I have been meaning to post this post for a while now! Many of you have emailed me questions and/or posted comments asking things about my PL Album. Let me answer them all for you!

Q: Great pages, I like how you used two different types of page protectors. You used a lot of really fun embellishments, are the dimensional? Do they add to bulk in your binder over time? Just asking because it's my first year...

A: Honestly, so far I haven't worried about it! I mainly use buttons, small chipboard die cuts, and badges and I try not use go overboard with them. That said, I like some dimension on my pages and am willing to exchange some bulkiness to get the look I like. Now, I could possibly reevaluate this later in the year, but for now, its working.

Q. Do you take photos every day?

A. Nope. Life is too busy for that. Ha! In fact, many days I just don't remember to get my camera out. I do, however, collect bits and pieces of our life and stash it in a bucket to use on weeks that I am lacking in the photo dept. It all evens out in the end.

Q. It looks like you are using different page protectors. Which ones did you snag?

A. I am currently using Design A + Design D. I am alternating them, so each week (in theory) will have one style A and then one style D. I am also using Design G to trim, and use as inserts. Now, you will notice that all of my page protectors are currently out of stock. I am praying they get more at Amazon before I run out. I have no back-up plan if they don't restock before I need them.

Q. Did you buy a core kit?

A. Yes. I bought the Cobalt Core Kit. I have only used a few journaling cards, but I am predicting (and hoping) I get more use out of it.

Q. Do you use your Silhouette to die cut things for your album? What are your favorite designs?

A. Yes! I love using you Silhouette for my PL book! I have the Silhouette SD (not the Cameo), but its working great for what I need. So far, most of what I am cutting are files from Lori Whitlock. She has designs made just for Project Life that do not need resizing!

Q. Lets talk printers. What do you use? Do you print at home? What does it cost?

A. Yes! I print at home. For Christmas, my hubs bought me a Canon Selphy and it works great! I typically scrapbook + work on my Project Life album late at night (usually on Sundays!) and printing at home really works well for me. I love the quality of my photos when I print at home and really, there is no need to bother taking them out for printing. I have absolutely no clue what it cost per print to print at home. Sorry.

Q. Whats your process for putting your book together? Do you have a system?

A. On Sunday nights, while I am watching The Good Wife on TV, I download my weeks work of photos. I edit them on my main computer (its in my office) and them decide what photos I am going to use & what sizes I need them to be printed to. I transfer the photos I want to use onto my external hard drive and then move to my scrapbook room. Then I connect my external drive to my Selphy and print away. This process usually takes 30 minuets or so. Once my photos are printed, I use sticky notes to label the pockets as to what goes where. I move things around until I am happy. Usually at this point, I go to bed. On Monday, I stick everything in, and embellish. Ta-DA! Its complete. I don't try to over thing the embellishing. I just do it and go on. Total time involved? About 2 hours.

Thats all the questions I have for you today! As always, if you have a question either email me or leave a comment! Thanks for taking the time to stop and ask questions & look at my work!

Eight

Good morning, Sunshine! I am up posting early as I have a busy day today! Dental appointments, meetings at noon, and the highlight of my day? I have an appointment at the MAC counter in Dillards to preview the Spring makeup collection. Silly, I know, but I am sooo loving makeup right now! I almost feel 14 again! ha!

First of all, though, I wanted to share a layout with you that I whipped up the other night while I couldn't sleep. Might as well be productive, right?

This layout originally started out from a sketch. The 'idea' of using banners and the jounral placement was all of the sketch that can be seen now, though! I love it when that happens! I just the sketch as 'jumping off' point, and then ran with the layout that came to mind. I love how simple this page is - how it captures what my heart is feeling right at this moment.

For this page, I  pulled out my Studio Calico County Fair kit. This kit could possibly be my favorite of all time. I love the bright colors, the patterns. It all reminds me of a quilt + is just so homey. Love that in a kit!

As always, I am linking this page up to the party going on over at Paper Issues. Our theme, now through Valentines Day, is 'what's love got to do with it'. Come over and link up all you love pages! You just might get featured on their blog! Oh!! And don't forget the DT call that Paper Issues has going on!

Be back tomorrow with my questions & answers post. It's overdue, but (I think) there are some good questions to be answered & info to be shared!

What I love Wednesday

This is my youngest, John. He bridged over into Boy Scouts (from being a Webelo) this past Monday. I cannot tell you how incredibly proud of him I am. He has earned his Arrow of Light and this 'Twentier' pin (he completed all twenty requirements, even though he did not have to). He has completed every badge, every pin, every rank. I am just in awe of him sometimes. He is such an over achiever (pretty sure he DID NOT get that from me!) Now he is following in his big brother's footsteps and moving into Boy Scout Troop 87 and starting his first steps towards earning his Eagle Rank.

I am so incredibly proud of you, John! Keep up the hard work!

*my trip to Las Vegas has put me behind a week on my Project Life Book. That's OK. I am catching it up and will resume my regular scheduled postings starting today!

This weekend

This weekend, the hubs and I will be in Las Vegas, NV. celebrating being married 8 years. And I am so excited! He is excited to hit the blackjack tables and I am excited to this guy:

and this girl:

in concert at MGM Grand. And.I.CANNOT.wait. I have had a crush on George Strait since elementary school & never could get to see him in one of his shows. And for the concert to be in Las Vegas? Makes me over the top!

I know I owe you a questions + answers post. But it isn't going to happen. I am still packing + doing laundry - and we have to be at the airport in a mere 1.5 hours.  I promise I will get it posted next week though. Time just disappeared on me!

Project Life Freebies

I love a good deal.

I love a good deal even more when its free ;)

Since starting Project Life, I have acumulated quite the list of freebies that I have stumbled across, via the web, and thought I would share my list of great freebies to use on your Project Life.

The fine print: This list is in no-way all inclusive. I have tried to check all the links I have included to verify they are truly free but in the case I missed one, let me know so I can delete it from my list! Also, this will be a 'running' list of sorts. My plan is to have a freebie post every so often to showcase other, new freebies that I have found. Also, go leave these creative people some love & thank them for the freebies. They worked hard to create these & unselfishly give them out for free. Oh, and these are not for resell or copying. And, as always, give the creator of the wonderful stuff you download credit.
Now back to our regular, scheduled programming...

Freebies. I like them. You like them. Money can get tight, but lack of funds shouldn't stop you from working on your Project Life Album. Afterall, freebies are, well, free. So use them!

Now, in no particular order....

1. Emily Merritt Designs has some amazing simple, grid and regular lined journal cards for download.

2. The Spendidly Imperfect Miss M has offered up, for free, 3"x4" journaling cards. She has days of the week ones, lined with red label ones, ones with little banners. Seriously cute stuff. And its all free. And she says she will be posting more, so make sure you 'like' her on facebook as well as stalk her blog!

3. Ormolu is sharing 8 Present Day Journal Cards. I have these and can't wait to use them!

Presentdayjournal_preview

4. SugarHillCo.  is made so absolutely, adorable printables. Love the color spread on these!

5.  PlunkyMomo has some awesome 4"x6" journal cards for free.

6. Valerie Brown Designs made some weekday 3"x4" journal cards. They even have a ledger pattern to them! Adorable!

7. The Creativity Prompt has a bunch of freebies, but these are some of my favorite:

Well, ladies and gents - there ya go. Seven websites that have some great FREE downloads. Go check them out, leave them some thankful love, and follow their blogs.

Oh, and follow my blog (see on my side bar where it says "Join This Site"? Click on that and join my site!). I just so happen to know that there is going to be a pretty nifty Project Life Giveaway in our future - but you are going to have to follow my blog to be eligible to win!

HINT. HINT. Nudge. Nudge.

Tommorow I will be posting a question/answer session about my Project Life. If you have any questions, just leave a comment!

Mine

Today is Wednesday, and that should mean this should be a 'what I love about this photo' post.

But its my blog, and I am going to bend the rules - I have a bunch I want to get caught up on here before the husband & I have a little getaway trip this weekend (much, much more about this later!)

Where was I..? Oh, yes.

I love being in control. Yes. I. Do. ;)

First up, did you know that Paper Issues is having a DT call? I cannot say enough good things about being on the Paper Issues design team. The friendships I have made. The creativity that surrounds. The exposure to new crafters, new manufacturers, new ideas! Seriously, Cassie (the head-honcho at Paper Issues) is just a doll & such a joy to work with! Anyway, if you are interested, go read up about it & submit your application!

Next, I am in the process of organizing a massive, mega list of Freebies for Project Life. This blog post is scheduled to go 'live' on Thursday. On Friday, I am going to be answering your questions and telling you a bit about how I do my Project Life. I originally planned to do just one post + get it all together, but in reality, this calls for two separate posts. So come back both days.

And finally, I want to share a layout I've done about my daughter. I never dreamed I would be the momma of a little girl -even if it was for only 6 short months. When I created this page, I had been reflecting on how it was so hard to grasp that she was actually mine. I used my Studio Calico County Fair Kit + some tissue paper to to create this page. It's simple. And absolutely lovely! I am going to be linking this page up to the Paper Issues Challenge going on right now (appropriately named 'whats love got to do with it'). You should stop by and see what the other girls have been creating with a 'love' theme. They will rock your socks off with their creativity!

See you tomorrow!
