Social Media Blog Hop

It's that time again! The calendar says it's the 29th of the month, which means it time for me to join the Social {Media} Blog Hop! This month, we were encouraged to be inspired by something - someone - a layout - really, anything from CHA.
By: Megan Klauer

I was totally inspired by Megan Klauer, from over on the Crate Paper Blog. She created a layout using some of Crate Paper's newest line, On Trend. With overly saturated colors that pop, it is hard for me NOT to just love (and want!) every single bit of this line. I chose to take inspiration from the pinks, turquoise and yellow bits of her layout. To make things easier, I grabbed an Amy Tan Collection kit and got started. Knowing that it all coordinated and worked well made this page come together so effortlessly! The result? Yeah, I am pretty happy with it!

Now, would you like to be inspired, and have a chance to win a GREAT CHA giveaway? Yeah, I thought so. Scraplift any of the projects you see, come back and link up the project to the main post. You never know what prizes might be handed out along the way :] Want more chances? Tweet about the blog hop, tell us your favorite project using the hash tag #SMBiGbloghop Comment on ANY of our blogs this month, and you could win one of two HUGE goodie bags from Summer CHA, filled with new products from the show! All entries must be in by midnight on Wednesday (Eastern Time). Good Luck!

Storing Washi Tape

Over on the Paper Issues Blog we are playing around with Washi Tape. It's everywhere - and there patterns popping up everyday that I just love. I have started me a little collection, and I was hanging trouble finding a good solution for storage. I knew it needed to have easy access to all my rolls (no digging for the right color) and it needed to be able to stack.

This photo is my solution. Now, I don't have an truly overkill amount. But if I did, I would just make a second box to store it in. What I did was find a cute wooden box at Hobby Lobby and then I picked up some wooden dowels in the craft section. I came home and had the cute husband drill me holes on the side of the box, where I would insert my dowel rods (to hold the washi rolls).

The next step was for me to decide how to paint/cover the exposed wood. I went with panting my box a solid black, and then ever so slightly distressing the edges. All of my wood (desk legs, cabinets, etc) in my scrapbook room are painted this way, so I went with that. Now on the top of the box I added a little embellishment - keeping in mind that if I ever need a second box (and I will) that I wanted them to still be able to be easily stacked on top of each other. For a little final detail I tied a simple ribbon around the box handle. The chipboard on top is a Melody Ross piece, and it says "enjoy the journey".

I am going to be linking this project up to the Paper Issues Blog today - if you have any washi projects, you should join us! Freckled Fawn is giving away a $25 gift card to there store! Or if you would rather, you can always shop the Paper Issues store on Etsy. Cassie stocks Freckled Fawn tapes and she has *amazing* prices. And her customer service rocks, too!
*How do you store your washi?
*Do you have a favorite store/brand that you love?

Three Things

Let's start with the obvious: what do you think of the blog? Me? I am totally.digging.it. This design is just *so me* in real life, you know? Leave me a note and tell me what you think of it - or if you think something needs changed.

Now, I have been keeping secrets. Big ones. Big ones with make my face smile, from ear to ear.Want to know what my secret is?? Oh, but I can't tell just yet. I can say this though: it has me written all over it! *squeel* Oh, want another clue?? Head on over to the Paper Issue Blog and see what Ms. Cassie has to say as well. Just for fun, here is another clue.

And lastly (but certainly not leastly!) can you remember my sweet family in your prayers? My husband's grandmother - who is the cornerstone of our family - has had to have Hospice come in to help make her comfortable in these last days of her life. It's been a rough year for our family with our Uncle Gary passing in March, and now our MeeMaw. Just remember us in your prayers.

um, oops! We have a winner!

Oh my goodnesss.

Really.

I am so sorry! I have been on vacation (more about that later) + working on a big ole project that's coming up that I totally forgot to post my winner from my {Social} Media Butterflies Contest!

AND MY WINNER IS........

Gorgeous work, Melissa! I'm happy to be a new follower of your blog! I love quotes and one of my favs is “Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.” Have a great weekend!

Nitasha, go ahead and email me your address at: mpriest@clearwire.net and I will get your package coming to you!
